The Reading League, Inc. (TRL) is a nonprofit organization based in Syracuse, New York, whose mission is to advance the awareness, understanding, and use of evidence-aligned reading instruction. TRL focuses on improving literacy outcomes for ALL students by providing educators and other stakeholders with professional knowledge about the science of reading - a body of knowledge that reveals how to develop skilled reading and writing most effectively.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Graphic Designer will play a critical role in shaping and maintaining The Reading League’s visual identity across digital and print platforms. This highly skilled and versatile designer will report to the Marketing Director and collaborate across departments to create impactful, on-brand designs for social media, website graphics, email campaigns, white papers, slide decks, ebooks, event collateral, signage, corporate identity, and more.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute creative designs for a variety of platforms, including :
- Social media posts and motion graphics
- Website and email graphics
- PowerPoint and Google Slides decks
- White papers, ebooks, and publications
- Event and marketing collateral, including signage, programs, and promotional materials
- Corporate identity assets
- And more
- Ensure all designs align with TRL’s brand guidelines and communicate its mission effectively
- Develop print and social media templates for TRL’s state chapters, ensuring brand consistency while allowing for localized customization
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing Director and cross-departmental teams to understand project goals, deadlines, and deliverables
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines while maintaining high-quality output
- Maintain organized files and workflows to ensure efficient project handoffs and updates
- Work with external vendors and printers, including preparing specifications, reviewing proofs, and ensuring quality standards are met
- Stay current on design trends, tools, and techniques to continually improve and innovate TRL’s visual presence
- Assist with video editing and motion graphic creation for social media, as needed
