Summary
Under daily direction and supervision of the school Director of Education, performs paraprofessional instructional activities and supportive tasks in support of a special education classroom.
Duties and Responsibilities
➔ assists in the presentation of learning materials and works with individual and/or small groups of children in various subject matter areas to reinforce class lessons and assist students in completing class and homework assignments.
➔ Monitors and assists students in a variety of subject areas utilizing several instructional materials according to instruction/guidance of certified staff.
➔ Consults with staff regarding student progress and behavior, observes, monitors and records student performance and behavior.
➔ Prepares, copies and distributes classroom materials and visual aids in support of instructional programs; performs general clerical duties related to classroom instruction and activities; and operates standard office equipment.
➔ Assists in maintaining a neat and orderly learning environment.
➔ Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: At least one year of experience working with children with behavior disorders in an organized setting.
- Completion of two years of higher education study OR possession of an Associates or higher level degree in Child Development, Early Education, or other related field may be substituted for required experience.
