What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Retail Pharmacist: UVA Pharmacy position at The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia?
The Community Pharmacist provides excellent pharmaceutical care and ensures a positive patient experience to a diverse patient population in a dynamic outpatient pharmacy setting. The pharmacist works alongside other skilled pharmacists and technicians to achieve optimal patient therapeutic outcomes through optimal and cost-effective drug selection and patient education.
- Collaborates with other Health System and Community Health providers to ensure optimal and cost-effective drug selection
- Dispenses timely and accurate prescriptions
- Provides drug education to patients or their caregivers that are transitioning from hospital to home
- Provides pharmacotherapy education to patients, caregivers and providers.
- Promotes cooperative work environment
- Ensures positive patient experience
- Provides clinical services to community patients, including immunizations, MTM and initiation of drug treatments as allowed through Virginia Board of Pharmacy Statewide protocols
- Performs pharmacy functions according to Federal, State andlocal Health System and Department regulations and published guideline documents.
- Supervises pharmacy technicians
- Engages in professional self-development
- Supports the education and professional development of the Pharmacy department
- Limited weekend and holiday staffing requirements
- In addition to above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's Degree required
Experience: No experience required
Licensure: Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing and traveling for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull < 20lbs. May be exposed to chemicals.
