UVA Library is seeking an Electronic Resources Librarian in the Resource Acquisition & Description Department. This position is responsible for supporting and managing various aspects of the electronic resource lifecycle. They will support management and access to purchased and subscribed electronic resources, utilize systems required for e-resource access and maintenance, including SirsiDynix Symphony, Ex Libris 360 Management Services, Springshare's A-Z list, and OCLC Collection Manager, contribute to the management of the Electronic Resource Management System,participate in resolving electronic resource access issues, monitor and analyze usage of electronic resources, stay informed about emerging trends in search and discovery, and provide outstanding customer service to Library users and staff. The goal of the Resource Acquisition & Description Unit is to acquire materials for the library's collection across all formats,disciplines, languages, and places of origin, manage access to licensed digital resources by maintaining local and vendor-supplied systems, and partner with Metadata and Discovery Services to accommodate copy cataloging workflows.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program OR a bachelor's degree and 4 years of full time experience working in a library or research institution
  • Experience entering and organizing information in an electronic platform such as database or spreadsheet or assigning informational tags in discovery platforms or web content
  • Ability to exercise initiative, flexibility, and creativity in troubleshooting and resolving electronic resource issues
  • Demonstrated analytical, writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Experience using an integrated library system or library management system

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SirsiDynix Symphony or similar systems
  • Experience with Ex Libris 360 Management Services or similar systems
  • Experience with OCLC Collection Manager

Anticipated hiring range: $64,000- $67,000.

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA with the opportunity of a hybrid work schedule (3 days on Grounds, 2 days remote) after the required in-person training.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
