POSITION SUMMARY
Under direct to moderate supervision performs daily cleaning / custodial tasks for resident rooms, nursing station, lounges, restrooms, offices, clinic areas, exterior areas and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Housekeeping Department and in accordance with The Redwoods standards and objectives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs heavier cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods, including but not limited to :
Scrub or buff floors with appropriate equipment
Vacuum, shampoo, and extract carpets for cleaning and bacteria control with industrial equipment.
Strip and refinish hard surface floors
Transport waste from utility rooms, hallways, and other collection points and dispose of waste by placement in holding area(s).
Cycle clean induction units, light fixtures and windows
Cycle clean ceilings and walls
Measure and mix cleaning chemicals
Assist in cleaning of emergency spills when observed or upon request
Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and recommends repairs as needed
Observe and report the general need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures
In case of community disaster, assists nursing in making up extra beds and other duties as assigned
Perform all other tasks which may be assigned
Preserves the dignity and self-respect of all residents at all times.
Practices confidentiality about the residents and nursing care activities.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned or required within the scope of the job
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to speak English at a level which allows the safe, efficient performance of the job
Must be able to understand and follow established procedures, directions and instructions – in written and verbal form.
Must be able to work well under pressure, calmly and effectively responding to emergencies and unexpected problems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical demands include stooping, bending, turning and stretching, moving equipment and walking.
Must have full range of motion.

Must be able to walk distances equal to the length of the campus (approximately 5 – 7 acres) to handle emergency services.
