Department Summary: The UCLA Police Department is a leader in providing progressive law enforcement services to a culturally diverse urban campus and its surrounding community. We do this through patrol, rapid response to calls for service, investigations, education and implementation of preventative strategies. Position Summary:
EMS-1, the primary campus ambulance, is a 9-1-1 emergency ambulance which responds to more than 1700 medical aid requests annually, both on the UCLA campus and in the surrounding community. UCLA’s Emergency Medical Service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. UCLA EMS works closely with the Los Angeles City Fire Department who provide advanced life support back up for calls on campus. UCLA EMTs are paid UCLA students.
Salary & Compensation: *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. - 2 years working in emergency medicine (Required)
- Working knowledge of State and County EMS policies and procedures (Preferred)
- Skill in financial planning and administration in order to direct a budget with multiple funding sources (Required)
- Working knowledge of the Emergency Medical Programs and the UCLA Police Department to ensure that all decisions are consistent with departmental goals and objectives (Preferred)
- Skill in supervising personnel including: • -organizing work flow to accomplish established objectives • -delegating responsibility • -training • -evaluating subordinate effectiveness • -administering discipline (Required)
- Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations to analyze and direct EMS personnel policies and procedures (Required)
- Demonstrated working knowledge of EMS methods, techniques, and systems sufficient to analyze, direct, develop, and initiate said methods, techniques and systems (Preferred)
- Skill in teaching technical information (Required)
- Working knowledge in analysis of EMS equipment and material resources including developing utilization plans (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of the UCLA Emergency Medical Programs and the UCLA Police Department to ensure that all decisions are consistent with departmental goals and objectives. (Preferred)
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality consistent with HIPAA and California Justice Information Services (CJIS) requirements (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree In a related area (Required) And
- Emergency Medical Technician 1 Upon Hire (Required)
- California Driver's License Upon Hire (Required)
- Ambulance Driver's Certificate Upon Hire (Required)
- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
- Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
- Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
