As the Director of Development, Annual Giving and Growth for UCLA Athletics, we welcome your strong passion for innovation, transformation and developing new approaches to a role where you will provide the overall strategy, leadership and direction for the Wooden Athletic Fund, UCLA Athletics’ annual giving program. Serving as a strong partner to our Assistant Athletic Director, Development you will manage all aspects of the annual giving program while maintaining a portfolio of donors and growing the donor base to increase support. In this role, you will work collaboratively to build a robust pipeline of major and principal donors; develop collateral for the annual solicitation; actively participate in the development and delivery of digital communications, direct mail solicitations, email appeals, telemarketing and other annual giving initiatives. You will also implement and oversee WAF access and recognition, including priority seating and oversee signature Athletics annual giving events and efforts such as Athletics Day of Giving and fundraising for the Olympic sports program. - Minimum of three years of experience in a fundraising environment with a preference for annual giving and/or prior experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development. (Required)
- Experience with supervision and ability to provide leadership, motivation and guidance of staff, colleagues and volunteers. (Required)
- Prior experience and success in gifts solicited and closed in the annual and/or special gifts range and/or solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity. (Required)
- Experience in making introductory calls and the demonstrated resilience required in dealing with initial resistance and rejection. (Required)
- Prior experience in and/or ability to develop sophisticated strategies in planning, implementing and administering annual giving solicitations or other solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity with ability to manage and grow a strong annual giving program. (Required)
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating the ticket distribution for large-scale college football and basketball events. (Required)
- Prior experience conceptualizing, planning and implementing events. (Required)
- Experience using Paciolan and CRM platforms. (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of fundraising at a major research university or institution of equivalent complexity with an emphasis on annual giving techniques and a strong grasp of college athletics fundraising. (Required)
- Demonstrated knowledge of critical issues in collegiate athletics and familiarity with terminology associated with athletics, fundraising and premium seating/ticketing. (Required)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. (Required)
- Well-developed interpersonal skills to build relationships and work harmoniously with a wide variety of internal/external constituents. (Required)
- Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively with strong analytical and organizational skills to develop innovative, credible solutions, recommendations and programs as well as to define and implement communication plans, events and other fundraising strategies and initiatives. - Ability to be proactive, work independently and accept responsibility; adept at establishing priorities and managing work flow to fulfill objectives and meet goals according to deadlines in a high-paced work environment under minimal supervision. (Required)
- Impeccable integrity and discretion in dealing with donors, and other stakeholders/constituents and in the handling/maintenance of confidential donor files/information. (Required)
- Engaged, focused and goal oriented with a high level of initiative and energy and a strong ability to maintain an optimistic outlook. (Required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs is required as well as familiarity with other applications, programs and databases as needed with a willingness to learn new technologies in a prompt and efficient manner. (Required)
- Ability to adhere to and comply with NCAA, Big Ten Conference and University rules and regulations or equivalent compliance experience. (Required)
