What are the responsibilities and job description for the YMCA Camp Counselor position at The Regional YMCA Of Western Connecticut?

At YMCA Camp Greenknoll, counselors aren't just staff- they're the heart of the camp experience! Ready to spend your summer making unforgettable memories? As a camp counselor, you'll lead awesome activities, build campers' confidence, and create an atmosphere bursting with fun, adventure, and growth! You'll help kids learn new skills while ensuring safety and smiles all around. We're looking for leaders with enthusiasm, integrity, adaptability, and the drive to create the best summer ever!

What We're Looking For :

Age 16 or older (experience with kids is a bonus!)
Able to roll with the punches, think fast, and bring creative energy to every situation
Ready to ensure every camper has a blast while growing in confidence and character!

You'll Need :

An infectious level of energy and excitement for working with kids!

Great communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal- you'll be a master of high-fives!)

A love for the outdoors, rain or shine-this is camp, after all!

Experience working with children is a plus!

A team-player attitude but also able to handle things on your own when needed

Passion for getting campers involved in every single activity, and ensuring safety at all times

Prepared to go i nto the pool with campers every day-yes, swimming is part of the fun!

The knack for helping campers make friends and grow socially

Positivity in every interaction-with kids and adults alike

Skills to organize, lead, and inspire your group in exciting activities

For staff 18 or older, a background check is required before you dive into the fun.

The Perks :

Pay : $1 6 . 35 - $16. 85 per hour

Dates : June 23 to August 22 , 202 5 (9 action-packed weeks)

Staff training : You must be available for mandatory staff training on June 9th - June 12th from 6PM - 8PM and June 18th - June 19th from 9AM - 2PM and June 20th 9 : 30am to 12 : 30PM

Staff MUST be available for 8 out of the 9 weeks
