Job Description:
The Assistant Pre-Kindergarten Teachers primary purpose is to assist the Lead Teacher in delivering an academically innovative classroom environment that is stimulating and challenging. The educational environment that is established must be in accordance with the Goals & Criteria of the Sacred Heart mission.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the supportive management of a classroom in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and curricular plan of the school
- Work cooperatively with the lead teacher to provide developmentally appropriate boy-centered instruction
- Help to create and maintain a classroom culture of well-being, health, and safety - both physical and emotional
- Share responsibility in the preparation of teaching materials
- Conduct small-group activities for an assigned group of students, share responsibility for large-group activities, and use appropriate adult/child interaction strategies with all students
- Assume responsibility for the classroom at any given time
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors and contribute to the overall effective operation of the Lower School program
- Bachelor's Degree Strongly Preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of classroom experience
- Knowledge of and proficiency with technology in todays 21st Century classroom
