Job Description Summary:
The Reinforced Earth Company (RECo) is currently seeking a Quality Control Supervisor for its Waco Precast Facility. The QC Supervisor reports to the QC Manager and is responsible for overseeing the QA/QC activities in the precast facilities and for providing leadership to the QA/QC Team in the daily processes of inspecting, testing, and ensuring that manufactured products comply with all quality requirements.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Must understand the QSM and ensure plant operations conform to the process outlined in the QSM.
- Perform testing of concrete to ensure compliance.
- Pre-pour Inspection checks of materials and forms
- Post-pour Inspection checks of products to ensure manufacturing tolerances met.
- Monitors product strength and determines necessary corrective actions.
- Perform concrete compression tests.
- Perform material gradation testing as necessary.
- Maintain calibration and maintenance of lab equipment as needed.
- Record keeping of quality documents, reports, inspections, etc., including as appropriate in state DOT systems.
- Communicate deficiencies with Plant Manager and provide feasible advice on remedies for corrections.
- Supervise in-house QA / QC Team to include providing training, coaching, and verifying their work and inspections, to ensure compliance in accordance with state specifications.
- Bring employee problems to the attention of the Plant Manager and/or HR Representative providing proper documentation as necessary.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements/Education/Skill:
- PCI Level 1 certification, ACI Concrete Field Technician 1, ACI Concrete Strength, ACI Aggregate certification.
- The following certifications are a plus: PCI level 2
- The following skill set is a plus: understanding Command Alkon batching software, to include calibration of moisture probes.
- Understanding of TXDOT and NPCA requirements for precast products to ensure compliance.
- 3 – 5 years of hands-on experience performing quality control in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of concrete mix designs and troubleshooting experience
- Proficient in using computer to include sending and receiving emails
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Ability to read and interpret Contract Drawings and Casting Drawings
- Understanding of basic geometry and able to read tape measurements accurately
- Ability to communicate corrective measures effectively, and able to pass certification tests.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and lift 75 pounds.
- Ability to communicate in both written and verbal formats of English at a professional business level.
- Ability to obtain knowledge of company products, policies and procedures in timely manner.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills to include coaching and developing subordinates.
- Self-motivated and ability to take initiative in continuous QA/QC improvement to include developing and implementing SOPs.
