FUNCTION & SCOPE
The Research Foundation for the State University of New York is seeking a mature individual who has an agile mindset and can-do attitude to work with the Industry and External Affairs team. The student will gain valuable insights into the Research Foundation's operations, specifically as related to the commercialization of university research, the creation of startup companies, and the administration of programs to catalyze innovation in an academic environment. The Office of Industry and External Affairs (I&EA) is the nexus of RF technology transfer activity across the SUNY research enterprise. I&EA is searching for an ambitious, creative, and agile student to support getting SUNY technologies to market. Reporting to the Manager of Marketing and Communication, the Intern will :
DUTIES :
Evaluate the marketability and protectability of new technologies submitted by SUNY faculty, staff, and students by conducting in-depth research using the tools found in RF's Technology Transfer Transactions Toolbox (i.e. ZoomInfo, InnovationQ, GlobalData);
Manage the development and deployment of various enterprise tools that support IEA's operations and execution of departmental goals, such as Minuet, Report Center, and Oracle.
Collaborate with IEA team members to build reports, dashboards, visuals, etc;
Strong working knowledge of enterprise tools and related systems needed to deliver IEA's programs and services, and manage related workflows internally and externally; and
Support the innovation analytics function of the office by assisting with requests for data, metrics, and reporting relating to SUNY's innovation portfolio and technology transfer performance.
Provide ongoing support to IEA departmental units on reporting and metrics collection, including the enterprise tools and systems used to track and measure outcomes and impacts of RF's programs and services.
Job Requirements :
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program. Students from the State University of New York colleges and universities are preferred.
Good organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills are required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required.
Compensation for this position : The compensation for this role is $20 per hour for undergraduates and $22 per hour for graduate students.
