Postdoctoral Associate
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University seeks to hire two postdoctoral researchers in the area of experimental nuclear/particle physics with the Nucleon decay and Neutrino Group.

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in High Energy Physics or a closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment. Extensive experience in High Energy Physics data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with long-baseline neutrino oscillations experiments. Good knowledge of either detector design, construction or commissioning, and implications on physics performance.
Brief Description of Duties:
The successful candidate will take on a major role in the Stony Brook Nucleon decay and Neutrino Group research program. The group plays a leading role in the T2K and DUNE experiments.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Analyzing data for T2K experiment.
- Developing detectors for the DUNE experiment.
- Overseeing the work of graduate students.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Notes
Travel Required - The incumbent will travel to attend T2K and DUNE meetings, workshops, and conferences, as well as for research activities on-site at JPARC for the T2K experiment or CERN, SURF, and Fermilab for the DUNE experiment. The position is a term position supported by research funds and the continued support will be dependent on the renewal of those funds.
The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) to be offered for this position is noted below, it represents SBU’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Salary : $50,000 - $65,000
