PRODUCTION SUPERINTENDENT
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Business Operations
FUNCTION: The Production Superintendent has the responsibility of supervising all aspects of production and manufacturing throughout all TRC Allied Industries manufacturing facilities. Managing through direct reports all plant and shop floor functions including but not limited to: direction and supervision of personnel, efficient use of equipment; proper utilization of manufacturing supplies and coordination with the shop floor controls required. Works with minimal direction, organizing and supervising production planning and work flow in order to meet customer shipment schedules. Primary work site is the Jamestown Allied Industries production plant. Incumbent is expected to assume production management responsibilities at other facilities operated and/or subcontracted by TRC Allied Industries as needed or assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent supervisory and communication skills and the ability to supervise and direct the activities of a production workforce that consists of disabled and non-disabled workers. Strong technical knowledge of efficient setups and production line layouts. Ability to train others in aspects of production relating to normal workshop production activities. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and others at all levels, both within and outside of the organization; strong production supervision skills including blue print reading, lean manufacturing, problem solving, machinery troubleshooting, and prototype work. The ability to organize time well and manage multiple time-sensitive, high volume logistics and production responsibilities effectively and in a timely fashion. Self-initiating with ability to work independently with little direct oversight and supervision. Reliability, flexibility Willingness and a willingness to work non-traditional hours as needed or assigned to fulfill assigned duties. and ability travel for work is essential. Physical condition or reasonable accommodation(s) commensurate with the demands of the job.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree plus five (5) years of production management experience, a minimum of three (3) years of which involved the administrative supervision of others; OR Associates degree and seven (7) years of production management experience, a minimum of three (3) years of which involved the administrative supervision of others. Experience in an industrial sewing environment and experience in managing government contract production strongly preferred. Valid driver’s license with driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier and the ability to travel for work or equivalent accommodations essential. This is a position that is exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. As an Exempt employee, incumbent will receive an annual salary commensurate with assigned responsibilities and salary classification; however, incumbent is expected and required to work as many hours as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.

1. Responsible for maintaining proper budget performance as it relates to production efficiency, material usage and quality control. 2. Assigns production orders to appropriate area within production floor based on available equipment capacities and personnel required to meet production schedule.
2. Communicates with material suppliers through Allied point of contact, in coordination with Material Planners, as required by shipping schedules and/or production or quality problems.
3. Communicates with customers through Allied point of contact as required by shipping schedules and production or quality problems.
4. Responsible for cost control and the efficient use of manpower, supplies and machines within their purview.
5. Works on cross functional team with marketing and product development, customers, engineers and project managers to help with development and design on new products.
6. Works with Engineering to recommends machinery acquisition; investigates various production options as to the best fit for required work.
7. Works closely with Inventory management to maintain required inventory of production materials and supplies necessary to support production.
8. Supports the ISO 9001 quality management system and participates in its direction as a member of the management team.
SUPERVISORY: Responsible for the administrative supervision of designated Allied staff, including but not limited to:
1. Hiring, firing, discipline, performance evaluation, in-service education and training, and ensuring that there are an adequate number of staff to fill assigned responsibilities.
2. Conducts staff meetings as needed or assigned.
3. Ensures that all assigned staff are knowledgeable of, properly trained in, and compliant with departmental and agency-wide policies and procedures related to assigned duties and responsibilities.
4. Ensures sufficient staffing for the department. Coordinates staff orientation with the Staff Training Department and ensures new hires and regular staff receive ongoing trainings.
5. Oversees all aspects of the workforce including timely completion of new hire paperwork, disciplinary actions and other personnel related matters.
ADMINISTRATIVE:
1. Responsible for the administration of all contracts within assigned areas of responsibility with regard to production schedules, ship schedules, scope of work and quality assurance.
2. Ensures that all staff job descriptions are updated to reflect changes in departmental and/or agency-wide expectations and practices and that staff are notified and trained accordingly.
3. Through direct reports, ensures production and regulatory standards are maintained with regard to labor reporting, indirect labor and quality specifications.
4. Works with Inventory and Production control in maintaining shop floor controls for all inventory materials and supplies.
OTHER: Performs all other related duties as needed or assigned.
REQUIRED TOOLS: Works within required electronic management software systems including ISO Express, EPICOR and UltiPro.
