What does a Substitute Cook at Preschool Locations do?
As a Substitute Cook at our six centers throughout the county, you will play a vital role in providing homemade breakfast, lunch, and snacks for infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children. Following easy-to-use preset menus, you'll collaborate with the classroom team to create a positive mealtime experience, adjusting menus as needed to accommodate food allergies. Our shifts typically run for 5 hours in the morning, from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. You will receive regular training on procedures and paperwork to meet the mandates of the Child Care Food Program, ensuring that all meals are nutritious and compliant.

Would you be a great Substitute Cook at Preschool Locations?
To be successful as a Substitute Cook at our Early Childhood Program Centers, candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and demonstrate one year of food service or housekeeping experience. Familiarity with health and safety regulations in food preparation is essential, along with a commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards. A health screening, proof of a current negative TB test, and up-to-date immunizations as required by Community Care Licensing (pertussis, measles, and influenza shots) are necessary. Additionally, a valid California Driver's License and proof of current auto insurance coverage are required for this role. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are vital, as you will engage directly with both children and staff, ensuring a nurturing and safe environment for all.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
