Job Summary: The Rhodes School (TRS) is the only magnet charter in Houston educating students through music
and art. As an After School Program Aide, you will provide instructional support and ensure students engage in
meaningful educational and enrichment activities outside of school hours, including after-school programs and
summer camps.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. ● Support student learning and development by assisting with program activities that promote academic
achievement, creativity, and personal growth.
2. ● Assist in implementing and preparing lessons and activities aligned with program goals and objectives.
3. ● Effectively communicate with parents, students, program staff, and administrators.
4. ● Participate in workshops and professional development opportunities to enhance job performance and
contribute to a high-quality after-school program.
5. ● Foster positive relationships with students and staff through engagement and supportive interactions.
6. ● Demonstrate flexibility, motivation, creativity, and a willingness to learn new skills.
7. ● Collaborate with after-school program staff, school-day teachers, parents, and administrators to
support student success.
8. ● Supervise students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
9. ● Performs any additional duties related to ongoing effectiveness of the school; as directed by supervisor.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Certification: Must be able to obtain an Education Aide Certification through TEA within 1 year of employment.
Work Experience: Previous experience working with elementary-age students is preferred

• Knowledge of computers, for word processing and other basic tasks.
• Able to accept and learn new and improved, education theories and techniques.

• Able to work with others using a team model and to follow basic teamwork principles.
Equipment Used: Microsoft Office, Eduphoria, Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier). General Knowledge of
accounting procedures, district policies, and school law.
Working/Environmental Conditions/Mental Demands/Physical Demands: Work is normally performed in a typical
interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements. Ability to
carry and/or lift less than 15 pounds.

This position is funded through the 2024-2025 NITA M. LOWEY 21ST CCLC Grant. Continuation of the position beyond that date is
contingent upon available funding.
