Job Summary:
The Rhodes School (TRS) is the only magnet Charter in Houston, educating students through music and art. We are seeking a Summer Substitute Teacher to lead summer school classes on an on-call basis. In this position, you will primarily work with students who have fallen behind in their academic level, which may require you to provide extra help or move at a slower pace. You must also ensure that your students are active and engaged throughout the length of the class. Our ideal applicant has prior experience working with students in a similar position.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Follow daily lesson plans provided by Summer School Administrator
2.
- Track the progress of their students and create reports to inform parents of their progress
3.
- Lead lectures and hands-on activities
4.
- Assign homework to help your students learn the material
5.
- Administer quizzes and tests to measure their progress
6.
- Provide extra help to your students when necessary
7.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up as assigned
8.
- Distributes and collects materials for instruction.
9.
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes
10.
- Maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment.
11.
- Supervise students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
12.
- Maintain a Gradebook for all students and create a final summer school report card.
13.
- Attend GPC meeting for Final Grades and Student Promotion
14.
- Performs any additional duties related to the ongoing effectiveness of the school; as directed by the supervisor.
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Certification: Teaching Certification preferred
Work Experience: Previous experience working with elementary-age students is preferred

Equipment Used: Microsoft Office, Eduphoria, Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier). General Knowledge of accounting procedures, district policies, and school law.
Working/Environmental Conditions/Mental Demands/Physical Demands: Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment that does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements. Ability to carry and/or lift less than 15 pounds.
