The Richland Hospital Inc. has a full-time, weekday position available for a Patient Financial Services Representative – Financial Counselor.
The Patient Financial Services – Financial Counselor is responsible for advising patients of financial assistance options and assists our patients with benefit/billing questions both over the phone and in person. Assists with self-pay collections and moving accounts to Bad Debt as outline in hospital policy. Provides a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.
Education/Experience: Candidates must have a high school diploma or the equivalent with post high school course work in a related field. Previous Financial Counseling experience in a healthcare setting preferred. A successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to stay calm, approach patients with respect and understanding, but have ability to articulate payment expectations, attention to detail and the ability to effectively follow-up on processes, understand and adhere to policies. A general knowledge of Commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid with an understanding of deductibles, coinsurances and co-pays would be helpful, but not required.
