What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietary Aide position at The Ridge at Madison?
Ridgeline Management Company is dedicated to creating environments where moments of joy, independence, and wellness are the focus each and everyday for our residents and employees. The Dietary Aide assists to prepare and serve meals for the dietary department in a safe and appetizing method in compliance with dietary standards, policy and procedures. They also assist with cleaning the kitchen and dining room, washes dishes, and returns food to proper storage.
Essential Functions:
To create environments where moments of joy, independence, and wellness are the focus each and every day.
Assists with preparation of food items and serves food to residents within scheduled time frame.
Cleans and maintains food service areas, including kitchen and dining room.
Assists Dietary Director and/or cook in maintaining inventory control.
Maintains clean, neat and safe work environment.
Assures employees and resident guest meals are accounted for on a daily basis.
Reports to Dietary Director any loss, breakage or waste of supplies and equipment.
Observes and communicates to Dietary Director problems or potential problems in the dietary department.
Observes and reports any unusual or potentially dangerous resident behavior
Maintains current cleaning list and highest standards for kitchen cleanliness.
Assists as a resident assistant when all dietary duties are finished.
Assists in an emergency or may assist other departments on occasion when short-staffed.
Performs other duties as assigned by the director or Executive Director

Ability to work with little or no supervision.
Ability to prepare and serve a wide range of foods skillfully.
Ability to guide and instruct others in food preparation and food serving.
Ability to maintain professional demeanor under stress.

Ability to relate well with other employees and residents of the community.
Is neat, clean and works safely.
Maintains acceptable attendance record; notifies supervisor if late or unable to work in accordance with personnel policies; follows work schedule.
Abides by established policies and procedures of community. Looks for ways to improve community functioning.
Respects resident’s rights and adheres to community philosophy of resident care.
Organizes and utilizes time appropriately; sets priorities to accomplish assigned tasks.
Ability to read, speak, write, comprehend, and effectively communicate in English.
Required Education and Experience:
Experience in dealing with elderly and their dietary needs preferred.
Experience in a similar position with a long-term or related community preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
This position requires auditory and visual ability, frequent standing and walking (including walking up/down stairs), bending kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position also requires using hand for grasping and carrying. Exposure to blood/bodily fluids is unlikely.
Work Environment:
This job operates in an assisted living/memory care environment. This role routinely uses industrial kitchen equipment and is exposed to hot/cold temperatures, such as when working near ovens or retrieving food from freezers. This role also wears uniforms and is often exposed to hazardous situations that produce cuts or minor burns.
