Position: Speech-Language Pathologist 

Reports to: Julie Demes, MS, CCC-SLP - Director of Therapy Services

 

Overview

The Rise School of Denver / Rise Therapy Center is looking for an experienced, energetic, and collaborative speech-language pathologist to join our team.

The Rise School of Denver provides high quality, inclusive early childhood care, education, and therapy for all children, including children with developmental disabilities. We do this by providing exemplary school- and clinic-based services using recommended practices for children with developmental delays and disabilities and their families.

Speech-language pathologists will join our transdisciplinary team of early childhood specialists that includes other speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, and music therapists. The SLP will work closely with our clinic team, and be directed and supervised by our Director of Therapy Services and SLP. Clinic services are offered in a multi-sensory gym space.

This is a flexible part-time position with opportunity to build up to a full-time caseload, providing individual and group services through our outpatient therapy center, in family homes, and/or within the classroom.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide family-centered, relationship-based speech and language pathology services in clinic, home and/or classroom settings

  • Develop goals and treatment plans in collaboration with families (and additional service providers when applicable)

  • Maintain and document child progress and complete all required medical and insurance documentation

  • Adhere to the Rise School philosophy that all children have the ability to learn when given appropriate encouragement and with evidence-based supports.  

  • Perform screenings and formal/ongoing evaluations/assessments with other team members and families

  • Affirm the race, class, culture, gender, sexual orientation, ability and disability, language, national origin, indigenous heritage, religion, and other identities of all young children and families by using practices that are developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate

  • Maintain professional, open and direct communication with all families, Rise team members, and outside providers

  • Ensure that confidentiality of all children and families is maintained within, across, and outside the school and clinic.

  • Maintain current required certifications and professional licenses, including but not limited to ASHA certificate, Colorado state license, CPR, and First Aid.

  • Participates in research studies or collaborations (e.g., hosting and supervising practicum students) with outside organizations as indicated. 

  • Maintains a professional appearance including appropriate dress and grooming.

  • Demonstrates teamwork and cooperation. Takes initiative. Stays open and enthusiastic to change. 

  • Participates in other duties as requested.

 

Minimum Position Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of young children’s speech, language, and hearing development and of speech and language pathology equipment, materials, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of speech, language and feeding delays and disabilities and of evidence-based practices for promoting speech, language and feeding development. 

 

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Hearing Sciences (or equivalent)

  • Colorado State License - Speech-Language Pathology

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency

  • Experience working with children with developmental disabilities in school, home, or outpatient setting as a speech-language pathologist.

 

Skills

  • Physical Skills

    • Move around and remain upright for long periods of time 

    • Play with children at their level (e.g. on ground, at table, in/around sandbox)

    • Pick up and carry children (weighing 20 to 50 pounds) when needed

    • Crouching/leaning over to clean tables and toys and to change children’s diapers

    • Retrieve supplies

    • Respond to unsafe situations very quickly

    • If COVID requirements are reinstated, the ability to wear a face mask and, when necessary, other personal protective equipment for the entire day

 

  • Other Necessary Skills

    • Open to receiving and responsive to coaching and feedback from supervisor, speech-language pathologist and other members of the transdisciplinary team.

Compensation

$45 - $65/hour, depending on experience 

Benefits: Part-time employees do not qualify for benefits; however, once team members reach full time status, Rise’s benefit package includes insured group health and dental plans.
