Summary: Camp Nonesuch is looking for a licensed Nurse to join our team this summer, to care for children participating in our summer programming. Summer programming will run from June 23, 2025 to August 15th, 2025 , plus one or two days of training scheduled earlier in June, depending on candidate availability. The schedule is 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an enthusiasm for caring for children and educating campers, staff and families regarding matters of health, wellness, injury/illness prevention, and medical care. This is a temporary, full time position, reporting to the Lead Nurse and Camp Director. Based on the duration of the assignment, this position is not eligible for benefits.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the health care for all campers, providing first aid care and medically prescribed support and/or services independently
- Assess students health and refer students to urgent care or the emergency room, as necessary
- Communicate by phone and email with parents regarding student health concerns.
- Keep and maintain confidential records and other relevant health data
- Maintain knowledge of communicable diseases including COVID, MA state immunization requirements, and other health and safety best-practices for school settings
- Review and approve physicals prior to camp (should review forms prior to camp start date)
- Create and distribute Allergy List to Camp Director and Kitchen staff
- Work with the kitchen staff to ensure a food safety for campers with allergies
- Collect medications, administer medications as prescribed and return medications to parents as per MADPH guidelines at the end of each camp session
- Attend all weekly staff meetings
- Attend Family Night (2 per summer)
- In addition to the summer camp duties, the Camp Nurse will also cover the Conservatory Program at The Rivers School from August 4-August 15.
The ideal candidate should have some experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.
In addition, the candidate:
- Must be a Registered nurse (RN) with a license as required by the state
- CPR certified
- Experience in both children and adult illness/injury care
- Must be available for training sessions TBD
- Education and First AID and BLS certification, preferred
- Complete a background check
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
