Summer Intern, Data Science and Analytics

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Data Science and Analytics Intern to join our Residential Business Unit. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data analysis and business intelligence within the multifamily residential sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for utilizing data to drive strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

• Research and Data Analysis: Conduct research and analyze data to identify investment and operational improvement opportunities within the multifamily residential market.
• Dashboard and Model Development: Build and maintain dashboards and models that help identify, track, and monitor opportunities, providing actionable insights to the team.
• Risk Assessment Analysis: Perform risk assessment analysis to evaluate potential risks associated with investment opportunities and rental properties and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
• Prompt Engineering: Develop and refine prompts for data analysis and machine learning models to ensure accurate and relevant outputs.
• Data Collection and Cleaning: Assist in identifying and verifying data from various sources to ensure data quality and integrity.
• Exploratory Data Analysis: Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that can inform business strategies.
• Reporting and Visualization: Create and maintain reports to communicate findings and insights to stakeholders leveraging RMR’s current data lake and Power BI infrastructure.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including investments, marketing, finance, and operations, to understand data needs and provide analytical support.
• Industry Research: Engage with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies in data science and analytics available in RMR’s proprietary data and analytics environment including internally deployed AI models.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
• Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and statistical methods is a plus.
• Experience and/or studies in Commercial Real Estate are a plus.
