Job Summary

The Housing Advocate Team Lead will perform various duties relating to working with poverty and vulnerable populations. This team member will work atThe Road Home’s Most Vulnerable Population crisis services and shelter program, serving up 160 adult individuals daily. The MVP Program prioritizes aging and medically vulnerable individuals that are experiencing homelessness, providing safe, accommodating non-congregate emergency shelter.The Lead Housing Advocate will provide excellent customer service, resources, and support to our Resource Center guests, from a Trauma-Informed Care and Housing First perspective.

Job Duties

You Will:

• Provide quality customer service to our guests, who may be in need of resources in addition to a warm bed for the night
• Monitor and help regulate activities at the Resource Center, ensuring rules and procedures are followed by both staff and guests
• Provide clear and specific information and instruct guests of Resource Center rules/procedures in a kind, compassionate, and trauma-informed way
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe facility, identifying special needs and referring needs to supervisor
• Assist in resolving conflicts that may arise among guests
• Write incident reports where appropriate, maintain records of guest stays, and maintain accurate shelter documentation
• Answer phones, take messages and respond to the public
• Provide occasional crisis intervention and emergency interface with community resources such as EMS and law enforcement
• Provide assistance and support to the Shift Supervisor and act as lead staff in the absence of the Supervisor
• Operate as part of a team that strives to serve the homeless in our community

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
  
  

Required Skills And Abilities

• Excellent customer service skills

• Must be able to stand, sit and walk for at least an hour at a time
