Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proficient at all essential duties and responsibilities of “Press Assistant 2” job descriptions.
- Ability to operate at least one TRC wide-web, Flexographic printing press safely, consistently and efficiently.
- Understands all aspects of the control folder and work instructions.
- Ability to set up a production job to specifications and within expected time.
- Ability to maintain and monitor tooling (anilox, sleeves, etc.)
- Understands the basics of color theory, density, dot gain, opacity, etc.
- Understands how to make specific adjustments to the printing press based on substrate and current environmental conditions.
- Understands differences in substrates and the importance of compliance.
- Will be responsible for entering production data into Radius operating system and downtown recording program.
- Maintain quality of materials produced.
- Set up and change over press from job to job.
- Operators are responsible for the waste of materials used in make-ready and production.
- Responsible for notifying management when press equipment needs repair work.
- Perform all quality checks.
- Correct quality problems or know where to go to get help.
- Prepare the next job in advance to reduce set-up time.
- Handle general cleanup of press area and station and assist in preventative maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot printing and press problems.
- Can properly start-up or shut-down the press they operate.
- Perform any and all press related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Will be at machine ten minutes prior to start of shift for successful shift communication.
- Accepts and understands past experiences and applied job knowledge might not be the way this company operates and can adjust to changes.
- Willing and able to train all less experienced team members the correct way things are done within our company.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Must be a team player and consistently have a positive attitude.
- Must have computer skills and data entry.
- Possess a willingness to learn and seek personal growth.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to read and understand print specifications documents and follow written instructions.
- Must be mechanically inclined for general press adjustments.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two years of flexographic printing press operator experience on wide-web flexographic printing press.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Ability to stoop, bend, and twist repetitively.
- Ability to stand on feet 12 hours per day.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
- Support SQF Certification.
- Possesses strong communication skills with the ability to train others.
- Proficient computer skills and data entry.
