Position Overview
The Connected Leaders Platform (CLP) supports the Foundation’s five-year climate strategy by driving the Foundation’s global convening capacity; designing high-level gatherings; deepening engagement with key leaders, corporations, governments, and non-profit organizations; and galvanizing networks. The Connected Leaders platform is a defining part of the Foundation’s unique model of change.
The Rockefeller Foundation (RF) is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director, Production & Success to oversee the production of 20-30 “Signature Convenings,” or top-tier convenings annually within the Connected Leaders Platform. The Director will play a pivotal role in delivering best-in-class convening experiences that align with RF’s broader institutional agenda, supporting key partnerships, and advancing high-level discussions across a wide array of global platforms.
Reporting to the Managing Director (MD), Special Projects & Partnerships, the Director will be responsible for leading the end-to-end production process for these convenings, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with RF’s strategic goals. The Director will work closely with the CLP team to support the successful delivery of Signature Convenings.
Pay Range: $160,000- $224,308. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.
Work Schedule: This role is on a hybrid work schedule, and required to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the execution of 20-30 institutional Signature Convenings annually, ensuring high-quality production that aligns with the Foundation’s strategic goals, in collaboration with the broader Connected Leaders team
- Serve as a key liaison for convening stakeholders, ensuring alignment on objectives, deliverables, and decision-making processes throughout the planning and execution phases. Facilitate smooth communication between internal teams, external partners, and senior leadership.
- Develop and manage comprehensive run-of-show documents for designated convenings, outlining detailed schedules, production timelines, and logistical requirements. Oversee the creation of project plans that ensure the smooth flow of events, including pre-event preparation, on-site execution, and post-event follow-up.
- Prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for consultants and vendors, and oversee the selection and management of third-party partners. This includes ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of services while maintaining a high level of quality in all event components.
- Identify, create, and manage tools and assets that inspire and delight attendees, and streamline convening delivery, including registration systems, digital platforms for virtual participation, and event collateral. Develop and implement systems for managing event logistics and resources to ensure consistent and high-quality production across all convenings, as well as a toolkit that can be utilized for a variety of convening formats
- Oversee the identification and management of audio-visual requirements for designated convenings, ensuring that AV partners meet the highest standards for technical execution.
- Strong leadership during concentrated convening periods, particularly during key events such as the UN General Assembly (UNGA) and the World Bank Spring and Fall Meetings. Ensure that all aspects of the convening run smoothly and meet the Foundation’s high standards for execution.
- Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure that Signature Convenings contribute to advancing the Foundation’s global strategy and mission. Foster strong relationships with key collaborators, ensuring smooth coordination and alignment on event goals and objectives.
- Conduct thorough post-event evaluations to assess the success of each convening, gather feedback from stakeholders, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Use insights from these evaluations to refine processes, tools, and strategies for future events.
Education, Experience, and Skills
- Generally expected to have 10 years of relevant experience in events management or a comparable field.
- Bachelors preferred.
- Ability to manage people and production teams to conceive, research, analyze, develop, and implement projects, new ideas, and strategies for successful completion.
- Experience with financial planning, budgeting, and contracting.
- Entrepreneurial and strategic mindset, with demonstrated experience leading work from strategy to execution, ensuring accountability for results along the way.
- Deep experience in developing and managing relationships with complex, geographically diverse, global organizations of all sizes.
- Experience in using software and data to produce outputs, track outcomes, and deliver results, independently and proactively.
- Ability to travel regularly both domestically and internationally and has done so in previous roles.
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to learn new applications quickly.
