Position Overview

As part of The Rockefeller Foundation’s Communications team, the Senior Associate supports the development of written and spoken engagements to protect The Rockefeller Foundation and promote the ideas and initiatives essential to humanity’s well-being.
Reporting to the Managing Director, Executive Communications, we seek an accomplished and creative researcher, writer, and strong editor with a commitment to the Foundation’s mission with deep knowledge of our history and current events. They will serve as an enabler of executive communications, thought leaders, and media and digital engagement.
Pay Range: $95,950 - $113,435. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.
Work Schedule: This role is on a hybrid work schedule, and required to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Research, edit, and draft speeches, op-eds, articles, and other content for the Foundation president and other senior leaders.
- With the Vice President, Communications, and the President’s Office, ensure speeches are well coordinated with briefings and other materials.
- Lead the research and writing for institutional reports and products as needed.
- Maintain the speech database and the ability to access and collect content.
- Support large-scale projects like book publications.
- Maintain a database of talking points for use by RF staff.
Education, Experience, and Skills
- Generally expected to have 5-7 years of experience as a speechwriter, journalist, or in a related content-creation field.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in media, communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or business.
- Highly skilled editor.
- Familiarity and comfort with marketing, digital and social media tools, and the ability to measure and evaluate audience metrics.
- Proven project management skills, deadline management, sense of responsibility and accountability, and the ability to effectively multi-task.
- Ability to manage contractors to ensure timely, high-quality work product.
- Strong interpersonal relationship abilities, intercultural knowledge and appreciation, strategic partnership building.
- Exceptional listening, written, and oral communication skills. Accomplished at communicating and influencing both inside and outside the organization.
- Prior experience working with a mission-driven organization is a plus.
