What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Assistant | Laboratory of Environmental Microbiology position at The Rockefeller University?
Organization Overview
The Laboratory of Environmental Microbiology studies the roles of microbes and microbial communities in our changing climate. Experimental and computational projects are focused on understanding the roles of microbes in soil respiration (CO2 production) and engineering microbial CO2 fixation for carbon negative biotechnologies (CO2 capture). This involves classic genetic, biochemical and physiological experiments with microbial communities as well as computational and mathematical analyses of their metabolism.
Overview
The Laboratory of Environmental Microbiology seeks a motivated Research Assistant to join the team. The Research Assistant will also have laboratory management responsibilities in a hybrid computational/experimental microbiology lab working at the interface of microbiology and climate science. Experiments will involve standard microbiological techniques for isolating, culturing, genetically modifying, and characterizing microbes chemically/physiologically. Computational work could include genomic analyses, machine learning, and simple mathematical modeling approaches.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include the following:
Required:
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Compensation Range: Min
USD $50,000.00/Yr.
Compensation Range: Max
USD $55,000.00/Yr.
