Accounting Manager

The Rose Gaming Resort is a $480 million gaming and entertainment complex destination, located alongside I-95 in Dumfries, Virginia. Along with exciting gaming action, The Rose Gaming Resort provides a luxury hotel, eight bars and restaurants, a space for meetings and events, 50,000 square foot gaming space and over 1,650 Historical Horse Racing machines, and over 80 acres of green space. The Rose Gaming Resort generates an estimated $35.5 million in annual tax revenues and employs more than 500 team members.

The Accounting Manager participates in the financial operating and capital planning processes and makes recommendations that achieve the desired financial results.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists with the hiring, training, development and supervision of Finance personnel
• Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments as well as trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff
• Establishes department standards, guidelines and objectives, and maintains other administrative processes such as budget and staffing to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of assigned areas
• Supervises policies, procedures, and regulations regarding audit and compilation of revenue and reporting requirements and General Applied Accounting procedures (GAAP)
• Participates in the design, development, and implementation of short- and long-term financial plans, studies and reports
• Oversee general ledger functions and trains accountants in related areas
• Generates, manages, and reviews financial reports to accurately track information and implement changes to improve efficiency of operations
• Provides financial analysis through annual operating cycles and plans
• Works with departmental leadership to refine operations and performance as well as develop financial forecasts
• Maintains related records and files
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and established procedures while reviewing unusual transactions or financial results
• Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Leadership and management skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
• Knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Finance department
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications and various accounting software programs

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Three to five years of related finance experience in the gaming or hospitality industry strongly preferred
• Must obtain and maintain valid gaming license, where applicable

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

• The employee will be required to sit for extended periods of time.
• The employee may be occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, carry light items, or drive an automobile.
• The employee may also be required to lift, push, and pull up to 20lbs.
• This position requires strong vision skills, including close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
• The work environment requires safety precautions typical of places such as offices, libraries, meeting rooms, etc.
• The employee may be exposed to smoke when on the floor of the gaming room.
