Health, Safety & Environmental Safety Officer – Sack Company (GA & SC Areas)
Sack Company is seeking an experienced full-time HSE Safety Officer to join our team at our Statesboro, Georgia office. This role is ideal for a safety-focused professional with a strong background in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance, ensuring safe work environments, training employees, and enforcing OSHA and company safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of equivalent industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and the construction industry.
- Familiarity with behavior-based safety programs and Health & Safety Plans.
- General knowledge of safety management and OSHA general industry safety orders in the civil engineering/environmental remediation construction sector.
- Understanding of Industrial Hygiene, Chain of Custody (COC) awareness, and related action levels.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and data entry for developing and managing spreadsheets/databases.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and take ownership of assigned projects.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact with a wide variety of personalities and engage them effectively.
- OSHA 30/500 and 510 Certifications (Occupational Safety & Health Standards for the Construction Industry).
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification required.
Responsibilities:
The Health & Safety Field Officer will provide administrative and field support for Sack Company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) program within a construction environment in GA & SC. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, coordinates training and certifications, and manages various HSE programs and documentation to promote a safe and productive work environment for employees.
- Maintain training & certification records for various databases.
- Perform and enter Safe Work Observations (SWO).
- Lead, prepare, coordinate, and execute field safety meetings.
- Conduct safety training and compliance tracking for HSE requirements.
- Coordinate field personnel physicals and assist with the worker medical monitoring program.
- Enter new hire data into appropriate HSE databases.
- Prepare project-related HSE documents, including site-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASP).
- Manage online HSE field data recordkeeping.
- Track and document near misses, incidents, stop works, and safe work observations while supporting the HSE Manager.
- Maintain records of Medical Monitoring, Training & Certification files.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a document control system for HSE compliance.
- Oversee the subcontractor HSE qualification document program.
- Independently draft and present Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) for each project.
- Manage digital HSE form data collection and assist with trend report preparation.
- Support HSE metric reporting for ISNetWorld & Avetta compliance.
- Assist in developing and implementing additional HSE training programs for superintendents.
- Contribute to the development of a written Environmental Management Program and maintain document control for updates and compliance.
