This role is generally responsible for leading a small team of warehouse associates responsible for receiving, managing, organizing and accurately distributing inventory. The Receiving and Inventory Supervisor will focus on driving operational excellence in the following ways:
Receiving:
- Oversee the receiving process, ensuring all incoming shipments are accurately verified against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Inspect incoming goods for damage or discrepancies; report any issues to purchasing and vendors.
- Efficiently and accurately process receiving documentation, including logging receipts into the inventory management system.
- Maintain optimal organization of inventory within the warehouse, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and accessibility.
- Monitor inventory levels and identify potential stockouts or slow-moving items.
- Implement and enforce inventory control procedures to minimize shrinkage and maximize efficiency.
- Collaborate with purchasing and other departments to optimize inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment.
- Develop and implement a robust cycle counting program to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Train and supervise warehouse staff in proper cycle counting procedures.
- Analyze cycle count data to identify and address discrepancies and root causes of inventory variances.
- Regularly report cycle count findings and improvement initiatives to management.
- Enforce warehouse safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Supervise and mentor warehouse staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of warehouse processes and procedures.
Required Experience:
- Proven experience in inventory control and warehouse management (minimum 3 years).
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software and barcode scanning technology.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
