Position Summary:
Under the supervision of Housing Manager, responsible for the coordination of a multi-faceted program requiring a thorough understanding of best practices for supportive housing and knowledge of the social and cultural needs of the individuals and native families being served. Assist with the planning, development and on-going operations of the tribe`s program, including establishing and implementing program goals intended to stabilize the resident(s) and successfully integrate supportive services to improve life outcomes and reduce harm to self and to the community. This is a grant funded position.
The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe`s Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Program is a supportive housing community. This is a housing first, harm reduction model for those experiencing housing instability due to substance use disorders and or mental illness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of community resources and clinicians to provide a comprehensive and client-centered services for the facility and for individual residents and their families.
- Collaborate with tribal agencies on tenant selection and admissions.
- Collaborate closely with various service providers to ensure programming and activities are aligned with service plan goals and objectives and are within the parameters of the established service plan.
- Build and maintain partnerships with various tribal departments: Behavioral Health, Tribal Police, Healing to Wellness, Anishnaabeg Child & Family Services, Nimkee Wellness, Elijah Elk Cultural Center and other stake holders.
- Assist with the development of policies, procedures, Memoranda of understanding, resident guidelines, house rules and other operational documents necessary for the efficient management of the Permanent Supportive Housing Program.
- Assist with writing the resident selection policy, admissions procedure, lease agreement, release of information forms and other documents necessary for initial occupancy and on-going tenancy.
- Conduct wellness check-ins with residents especially those who choose not to engage in voluntary case management or supportive services.
- Receive, review, and respond to complaints and concerns from residents or neighbors and mediate resolutions. Respond to resident and building emergencies. Recognize and manage potential crisis or emergency situations.
- Maintain resident records, logs, and other documentation in an organized and concise manner. Thoroughly documenting incident reports.
- Work with the Housing Manager to resolve lease compliance issues and negotiate a resolution short of eviction.
- Develop a system for data collection and reporting metrics to the Housing Manger and the tribes` Office of Grants and Contracts.
- Coordinate scheduling of facility resources such as; conference room, office space, community kitchen and other shared spaces within the facility.
- Assist other assigned staff, as needed, including security, Recovery Coach, maintenance, and other service providers.
- Attend training as necessary to stay informed of new trends and innovative practices in the field of PSH.
- Attend regular Housing staff meetings and clinical staff meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor`s degree in human services field.
- One year experience in the areas or mentoring, client advocacy, legal or social services, mental illness and / or addiction treatment, or work with those at risk of homelessness.
- An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
Desired Qualifications:
- One year experience supervising employees.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
- Must have a valid Michigan Driver`s License and must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Driver`s License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.
- Native American preference shall apply to all positions.

- Must have a working knowledge of tribal, state and federal human services programs; particularly psychological, medical, and substance abuse programs.
- Must be knowledgably of the concept of historical trauma.

Education
