Full Time 2nd Shift 6 pm-4 am, 4-10 hour shifts Sunday through Wednesday.

Wage:$25.03 non-exempt

Our paid time off accruals for annual and sick leave are as followed: 0-3 years of service = 2 hours of annual & sick per 40 hours worked; 3-9 years of service = 3 hours of annual & sick per 40 hours worked; 10 years or more of service = 4 hours of annual & sick per 40 hours worked. Plus you get 16 hours of personal time per calendar year (prorated based on your start date, resets every Jan.1). We also have Bereavement, Longevity, Fitness, and maternity/paternity leave.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of Compliance Manager, assist in ensuring the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe (SCIT) assets and interests are secured while ensuring the integrity of the gaming enterprise. Ensure compliance to the SCIT Gaming Code and MICS; SCIT and Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort (SECR) Standard Operating Procedures, Tribal-State Compact (as applicable) and all other applicable federal and SCIT laws that pertain to the regulation of a gaming and gaming-related environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide written reports on violations and/or issues pertaining to gaming activities.
  • Ensure that all tribally-licensed organizations are in compliance with the tribal gaming code, and ensure full and proper enforcement of tribal, civil, and criminal gaming laws.
  • Ensure adherence to SCIT MIC standards and report violations to the Gaming Commission.
  • Regulate daily gaming activities within the jurisdiction of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. Maintain a record of all new developments of gaming and ensure compliance of developments in accordance with NIGC and the SCIT Minimum Internal Controls.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of gaming software used by the SCIT and SECR.
  • Conduct all aspects of investigations and inspections. Retrieve and prepare appropriate documentation and provide expert testimony as required.
  • Recommend appropriate penalties for participants involved in illicit activities (i.e. exclusion, criminal prosecution, and/or civil action) as directed by the Gaming Commission.
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative professional operating relationship with enforcement officials, including Loss Prevention Departments employed by SECR. Cultivate source contacts for investigative purposes.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:

  • Contact with Gaming Commission and Compliance staff, upper management and associate from SCIT and SECR departments, vendors, and guests to problem solving, communication, investigation, and enforcement of gaming laws, policies, and procedures.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three years gaming or regulatory experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in enforcement.


License, Certification, or Special Requirements:

  • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of federal, state, local and tribal laws and regulations that pertain to compliance and investigations.
  • Knowledge in licensing, compliance, investigation, and inspection techniques.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including Windows programs.
  • Skill in analyzing difficult, complex and controversial cases to determine the scope of investigation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work activities while using time efficiently.
  • Ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.


Physical Demands:

  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer equipment.
  • Required to sit and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally stand.
  • Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.


Work Environment:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
  • Travel may be required.
