Job Overview
The Salvation Army Central Territory is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cabin Team Leader to join our team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the well-being and safety of our campers, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
About the Role
- Assist in supervising cabin counselors and emergency procedures, reporting information to the Program Director as needed.
- Work with counselors to answer questions on procedures, problems, program ideas, and operational supplies.
- Conduct cabin inspections following each camp session.
- Collaborate in planning and presenting camp orientation as requested.
- Review related program policies and manuals to recommend improvements.
- Ensure campers' welcome, settling, and safety for each session.
- Maintain awareness of personal cleanliness, dress code adherence, and sun and insect protection among campers.
- Set an example and encourage respect at all times.
- Take note of announcements.
- Support teaching activities as needed.
- Ensure proper rest for campers, encouraging rest time and promptness throughout the day.
- Lead the cabin group on dining hall procedures, cabin cleanliness, meal cookouts, overnight camp outs, group activities, and nightly devotions.
- Serve as spotters at lakefront as needed.
- Plan activities for the cabin group on rainy days unless otherwise programmed.
- Conduct cabin check-out on closing days.
- Sanitize showers and bathrooms daily, dorm area after each session, and store cleaning supplies safely.
- Complete daily reports and share concerns with the Program Director or local leaders as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Basic computer skills are required.
