Position Summary : Work and rotate with the Food Service Manager to perform all food service functions in the kitchen as part of Echo Grove Camp & Retreat Center, to provide up to 400 meals (typically less) for camp guests on-site. This position is mostly on weekends with flexibility to cover for the Food Service Manager as needed.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Assist in the preparation of meals for groups of all sizes Maintain clean and organized work and storage areas
- Comprehend and execute operating, safety, and cleaning of all food service equipment
- Cook, trim, portion, carve, bake, etc. meats, vegetables, salads, breads, desserts, etc.
- Fry, boil, broil, roast, and steam meat, poultry and vegetables
- Maintain clean and organized work and storage areas by, taking out trash from kitchen / dining room. Sweep and mop kitchen / dining room, wash and restack dishes, pots and pans, and clean and sanitize kitchen / dining rooms
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities :
Additional duties may be assigned from time to time. Due to cyclical nature of the camping season and calendar, there are opportunities for hours in other areas, i.e. housekeeping and maintenance during slower timesQualifications :
Education / Experience :
Training and experience in cooking for large groupsExperience in kitchen cleaning and guest relationsSkills, Knowledge & Abilities :
Knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving, and kitchen proceduresMust be able to properly lift at least 50 pounds from ground level to countertop, bend, reach, stand on feet for long periods (12 hours) and withstand extreme temperature hot and cold.Computer Skills :
Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office 365.Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint.Willingness to learn new software as needed.Certificates and Licenses :
