What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Camp Bible Counselor position at The Salvation Army Central Territory?
Position Summary: The Day Camp Bible Counselor is responsible for planning and teaching Bible classes to children ages 6 – 12, during summer Day Camp. The Bible Counselor will work with other Day Camp staff to provide a safe and meaningful summer Day Camp experience in a Christian environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Preparing weekly lessons for the Bible classes, using provided curriculum
- Responsible for instruction of the Bible class sessions with day camp groups
- Responsible for praying and following up with youth who would like to make a commitment to Christ during camp sessions
- Responsible for the supervision of campers in each class, with assistance of their counselor
- Track and report names of youth accepting Christ during camp sessions
- Attend all staff meetings
- Prepare and clean meeting space before and after each session
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Some college with a focus on biblical studies, preferred
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding of the Bible and its truths for Christian living
- Some experience in working with and teaching children
Computer Skills:
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office 365
- Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
- Willingness to learn new software as needed
Certificates and Licenses:
- Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
- Complete First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days
