What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Assistant Kitchen Supervisor position at The Salvation Army Central Territory?
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Supervise kitchen staff, which includes training and supervision of beneficiaries assigned to the kitchen for work therapy and skill training.
- Schedule kitchen workload to allow for timely meal preparation, serving and clean-up, as well as adequate beneficiary services (i.e. skill training).
- Conduct bi-weekly inventory of all unused items
- Plan menus and order food consistent with nutritional rehabilitation and budget constraints.
- Cook and prepare food as needed (work alongside beneficiary staff when necessary).
- Consult with professional staff as necessary concerning beneficiary services and keeping Resident Supervisor or Director of Rehabilitation Services informed regarding staffing needs.
- Wear any and all assigned PPE provided, including but not limited to gloves, masks, or back guard when doing substantial lifting.
- Must be available for a flexible schedule; to work early shifts, late shifts, and some weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of accredited food service program preferred along with one-year experience in institutional cooking with some management responsibility.
(Education level) plus X years of relevant experience. (Higher level) degree a plus (or preferred).
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
Valid Driver's License and ability to drive in accordance with the Salvation Army policy.
Skills/Abilities:
Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with customers, management and coworkers.
Basic computer skills including but not limited to the use of the payroll program, and all other programs or systems that are adopted by the TSA ARC.
Ability to use basic math skills.
Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Train and supervise all kitchen staff. Document and provide requested job performance information regarding direct reports as required for review.
