What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Coordinator-The Salvation Army Kroc Center position at The Salvation Army Central Territory?
As the Recreation Coordinator, you will work alongside the Health & Fitness Manager to ensure the smooth operation of recreational facilities, including the gymnasium, outdoor turf field, the Zone, and the supervision of Kroc Attendants. You will also take the lead in overseeing the Summer Camp Program, with a focus on planning, executing, and improving recreational activities that promote health, wellness, and community engagement.
What You Will Do:
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of recreation programs and activities that cater to diverse age groups and
- Provide leadership and direction for the summer camp program, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants. Supervise the camp's opening and closing processes, manage counselor schedules, and ensure compliance with safety and health regulations
- Coordinate and schedule Kroc Attendants, ensuring adequate staffing for all facility hours and that attendants are trained to deliver excellent customer service, maintain facility cleanliness, and enforce safety protocols
- Oversee the development and programming of the Zone, a designated area for recreation and fitness activities for youth 11- to 17-year-old. Focus on creating innovative and engaging activities that attract participation and meet community needs
- Other tasks as assigned by leadership
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: College degree preferred
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed.
Experience: Minimum of two years' experience working directly with youth and sports and/or customer service-related industries
Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm and CPR training within the first 30 days of employment
Skills/Abilities:
- Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience supervising teams or managing staff
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in recreation programming
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
- Must uphold and enhance public appreciation and trust for the fitness industry.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all client information.
