Position Summary
Essential Functions (approximate time spent)
- Custodial Duties (30%): Maintain a clean, tidy, and sanitary environment throughout the building.
- Information Requests (20%): Respond to inquiries and direct calls appropriately.
- Participant Assistance (15%): Support program participants by assisting with paperwork, sharing information about Pathway of Hope, and promoting available resources and events.
- Administrative Support (10%): Perform administrative and clerical tasks to support program operations.
- Delivery Operations (5%): Load, unload, and drive for food and donation deliveries.
- Program Support (5%): Assist with Social Services programs, including the food shelf and rental assistance.
- Event Assistance (5%): Support special and seasonal events, including the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
- Minor Repairs (5%): Perform minor repair work to ensure safety, within training and regulatory guidelines.
- Grounds Maintenance (5%): Maintain building grounds by removing trash and hazards, cleaning the exterior, and ensuring clear sidewalks during winter.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous social services experience preferred.
- Two years of custodial experience.
- Must pass background checks, possess a valid driver's license, and meet MVR driving requirements.

- Working knowledge of safe handling of equipment, chemicals, and materials regularly used in basic maintenance and custodial duties.
- Flexible interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of honor in dealing with confidential information.
- Works with integrity, valuing honesty, and diligence.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, databases, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to perform some or all physical tasks including lifting, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, and other custodial duties.
Working Conditions
- Regular physical work including lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking, and standing.
- Must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift 100 pounds.
- Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with colleagues and participants.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Driving/Travel Requirements
Drive agency vehicle to support the mission of The Salvation Army.
