Overview
Function:
The Arts Instructor will provide instruction for group or one on one classes within the Arts Department. Instructors will be responsible for the education and training of students in the disciplines of Music, Dance, Drama, and/or Fine Art under the guidance of the Arts Manager.

Ensure that the ultimate goal of spiritual, emotional and physical development of all people is represented and infused in all classes and lessons.
Initiate and maintain positive relationships with all Kroc Center staff, guests, members, parents and children.
Attend all assigned meetings and trainings as scheduled.
Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with the program, children, parents or co-workers.
Communicate with the Arts Manager regularly regarding concerns/issues with the program, children, parents or co-workers.
Comply with all emergency procedures to ensure the safety of the children and staff.
Maintain any and all necessary supplies, equipment, and materials; inform the Arts Manager when new/additional supplies are needed.
Ensure that all students are respectful of Kroc Center property; ensure all rules and regulations are followed.
Lead children by providing clear direction and skill development.
Consistently demonstrate positive discipline; firmly and consistently enforce the rules; express clear expectations and accountability; ensure that reprimand fits the misbehavior.
Help children to develop a positive self-esteem and sense of self-worth.
Lead children through activities with enthusiasm and professionalism according to training protocol
Consistently demonstrate and reinforce the Salvation Army’s core values.
Introduce yourself to parents and communicate with them regularly regarding program information: schedule changes, recital information, positive and negative behavior of their children, etc…
Express appreciation for their interest in their child(s) participation in the program
Provide material that is both challenging and age appropriate.
Assist with recital planning as needed.
Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedure.
Perform related assignments/duties as directed.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in music, fine arts, drama/theater, education, dance, or related. Equivalent experience may be considered with demonstrated expertise within the area of instruction.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with kids or adults in Music, Dance, Drama, or Fine Arts.
Demonstrates good judgment, resourcefulness, flexibility, and problem solving.
Possesses sensitivity and awareness of diverse cultural perspectives and the ability to work with diverse populations.
Ability to work well with other employees and customers while maintaining the standards of The Salvation Army
Able to occasionally work weekends/evening hours.
Must have an understanding of, and appreciation for, the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Camden Kroc Center’s Core Values.
