Overview
Location: Divisional Headquarters, Administration (Hartford, CT)
Status: On-Call
Scope & Purpose of Position: Greet visitors at the front door, direct incoming telephone calls and inquiries, and receive/deliver incoming parcels as needed.
Responsibilities
- Check voice messages periodically and forward them to appropriate parties.
- Direct incoming telephone calls and inquiries appropriately to internal and external resources.
- Ensure personnel and visitors entering the building comply with the COVID-19 prevention protocols.
- Ensure that all visitors entering the building sign in and are provided a visitor identification (sticker, badge, etc.) and that the personnel being visited is contacted to greet the visitor and direct them to the appropriate location.
- Greet all visitors warmly and in a manner that reflects the mission and integrity of The Salvation Army.
- Always interact professionally and positively with the public, either in person or through telephone contact.
- Keep the work area tidy and professional.
- Monitor video surveillance of the exterior of the building and report any concerns immediately.
- Open and close the front gate at the start and end of the business day.
- Receive parcels and notify appropriate personnel of delivery.
Qualifications
- Receptionist experience required, preferably in a non-profit setting.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a
- Basic proficiency in computers and Microsoft Office.
- Continual attention to detail, highly organized, and able to establish priorities.
- Demonstrate discretion, integrity, and confidentiality in dealing with all matters.
- Effective interpersonal skills and strong customer service skills in person and on the telephone.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must maintain a professional appearance.
- Self-motivated and dependable.
