OVERVIEW:

The Office Assistant will provide clerical and special project support for The Salvation Army's Watsonville Corps.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare meeting notices, agendas, and minutes; and assist with other preparatory details for the Advisory Board meetings
  • Maintain and distribute Corps calendars
  • Maintain Corps client & volunteer files
  • Recruit, coordinate, and train volunteers
  • Oversee Corps programming bookkeeping
  • Create program flyers
  • Prepare newsletters and send thank you letters to donors
  • Assist with finding new donors and improving relationships with already established donors
  • Assist in maintaining and updating donor records in the database
  • Oversee statistics for Corps
  • Oversee Reach applications
  • Assist with community engagement
  • Assist the Corps Officer in coordinating the Christmas season
  • Assist the Corps Officer in tracking PTM
  • Assist in coordinating special events
  • Assist in creating agenda items for Finance meetings
  • Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • CA driver’s license (required)
  • Experience as an Administrative Assistant

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
  • Team player
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Great communication skills

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
