DescriptionJob Title : Youth Program Specialist FLSA Status : Full Time - exempt Reports to : Divisional Youth & Candidates' Secretary Supervises : N / A Rate of Pay : $56,638.40 Annually Closing Date : 1 / 25 / 2024 Benefits : Standard; Full-Time, Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following : Health, vision, dental, life as well as voluntary life and disability insurance Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire) Vacation benefit - 20 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0769 hours for each hour worked (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment) One floating day off for use (accrued immediately, and again annually, but may not be used until the completion of the initial three-month introductory period of employment) Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service) Voluntary Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan (403(b)plan) Scope of Position / Essential Functions : The Youth Programs Specialist must communicate and model The Salvation Army's mission, doctrine, teachings, and principles to both groups and individuals in order to enhance and promote Christian education within The Salvation Army Intermountain Division in relation to youth programing.Works in an office environment with frequent interruptions, multiple deadlines, and competing priorities. Work environment includes managing projects with conflicting requirements and tight deadlines. The following equipment may be used : telephone, computer equipment, typewriter, electronic recorder, personal computer with screen monitor, fax / copy machine, microphones, audio-visual equipment, 10-key calculator. This position also requires relocation to High Peak Camp each summer. Education and Work Experience : Bachelor's Degree in Christian Education or a related field and / or a minimum of three years' experience in Salvation Army youth programs in positions of leadership and supervision. General Responsibilities : Responsible for the coordination of youth and young adult related programs to administration, Officers, Territorial Headquarters, and all corps, service extension units, and service centers in the Intermountain Division. Responsible for maintaining a consistent process of program support to divisional youth programs. Draft, process, and maintain ongoing correspondence, reports, and other necessary documents as they relate to the Youth Programs and support to DYCS and DYS. Responsibilities : Provide direction, creative support, and coordination for : Corps Cadets, with responsibilities as the Divisional Corps Cadet Counselor Troops, with responsibilities for all youth character building programs (Girl Guard, Sunbeam, Moonbeam, and Adventure Corps) Sunday School curriculum and development (assist with DYCS) Bible Bowl Junior Soldiers (assist with DYS) Vacation Bible School curriculum (resource and support) Youth Resources Youth Leaders : Develop and implement youth leader's network Plan and prepare youth leader retreats In conjunction with the DYCS and DYS with youth leadership training Young Adult Fellowships : Coordinate Front Range (Denver Metro) meetings and occasional meetings outside the Front Range Plan and implement Young Adult Socials and Retreat Develop self-sustaining programs within the given regions Build regional contact between the youth of neighboring corps Divisional Youth Retreat : Brainstorm with the DYCS and DYS to create initial outline and program. Plan and coordinate all registration, meetings, entertainment, workshops, and events throughout the weekend with the DYCS and DYS. Prepare a Leader's Brief and make sure all leaders are ready to execute their responsibilities for the weekend. Create / Coordinate all promotional material and posters. Prepare all final reports for DHQ & THQ. Create a quarterly divisional youth newsletter and promotional materials / graphic art for divisional youth events (such as Young Adult Retreat, Divisional Youth Retreat, Rallies, Divisional Events, Chapels, etc.). Summer Camp Planning Work with DYCS and Camp Director to identify and hire entire summer camp staff. Present a timetable for achieving this outcome. Responsible for the development of Summer Camp applications and registration & coordination of youth for all Summer Camps. Plan and prepare the 10-week detailed summer camp program and schedule with input from Camp Director and DYCS. Plan and prepare summer camp orientation at High Peak Camp with input from Camp Director and DYCS. Attend Career and Employment days around the United States at various college and universities (minimum 2). Work with the Corps Officers, Envoys, and Service Extension Directors / Units to ensure that we have 90% occupancy at all summer camps. Write and update detailed job descriptions for all summer camp positions with input from Camp Director and DYCS. Prepare paperwork for CFC approval for all camp hires and volunteers.
