Position Overview
The Community Engagement Manager will work closely with the Development & Communication Manager to implement short- and long-term strategies for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding corporate partners and sponsors. You will manage various donor and corporate relations, oversee volunteer programs, and contribute to key community engagement efforts such as the Angel Tree program. Additionally, you will develop strategies to maximize donor support, build community awareness, and support corporate partnership growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Donor Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship
- Develop and maintain relationships with corporate partners, sponsors, and potential donors
- Manage a caseload of corporate partners, ensuring timely communication and follow-up
- Organize and lead donor cultivation and recognition events
- Assist with non-public grant writing and reporting to maximize funding opportunities
- Ensure all donor data is accurately recorded and updated in the donor database system
Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, churches, and civic organizations
- Identify opportunities to promote The Salvation Army’s programs and services
- Develop a Speaking Circuit Calendar to engage civic groups, foundations, and churches
- Coordinate community outreach efforts to raise awareness and encourage involvement in The Salvation Army’s work
Angel Tree Program Management
- Oversee all aspects of the Angel Tree program, including volunteer coordination and logistics
- Manage application processes, mall operations, and donations handling
- Supervise and train volunteers, ensuring effective participation during the holiday season
Volunteer Program Engagement
- Develop strategies to engage, recruit, and recognize volunteers for The Salvation Army’s programs
- Monitor volunteer participation and effectiveness, ensuring quality volunteer experiences
- Lead a yearly Volunteer Appreciation Event in partnership with the Area Commander
Additional Responsibilities
- Serve as the Safe From Harm Lead, an internal training program for individuals working with youth or vulnerable adults, ensuring compliance with all related training and deadlines
- Represent The Salvation Army at public meetings and events, as needed
- Assist with general administrative tasks and donor communications as directed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- 0-2 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a similar field (preferably in the non-profit sector)
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop strategies, manage projects, and work independently
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
