What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drop-In Center Coordinator position at The Salvation Army - NJ Division?
Essential Function: The Drop-In Center Coordinator will be responsible for the oversight of the drop-in center program. S/he will provide education, resources, training, socialization, and activities for the homeless or potentially homeless populations within the Montclair Citadel’s service area.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the duties that may be required. The Salvation Army reserves the right to change, reduce or expand the duties of this position at any time.
Specifically, the primary duties are:
- Oversee drop-in center operations:
-Help maintain COVID-19 safety protocols for all participants.
-Be present in room with guests to maintain order.
-Be flexible to adjust program as safety restrictions and community needs change.
- Work with Caseworker to coordinate educational and recreational programs for the drop-in center participants.
- Plan and conduct programs for the drop-in center attendees which are educational, active, beneficial, help in socialization, and promote healthy living.
- Prepare and serve morning coffee/breakfast.
- Oversee shower program Monday through Wednesday:
-Distribute toiletries, towels, clean clothes.
-Maintain shower schedule.
-Help guests adhere to social distancing and COVID sanitizing rules.
- Drive as required.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Conduct weekly Bible Study at drop-in center.
- Assist in Homeless Connect Day and other outreach events as needed.
- Assist in Thanksgiving/Christmas Meal and Assistance Programs.
- Assist in the feeding program by helping to prepare and serve meals.
- Work with Casework staff to assist clients in securing jobs, housing, benefits, and health care.
- Watch gate from office to allow deliveries into garage and clients in through gym door.
- Other duties as assigned that fall in the range and scope of this position not listed above.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 3 years of related experience.
- Must be First Aid and CPR certified.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily. If needed, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
