What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Services Coordinator position at The Salvation Army - Northern New England Division?
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Provide basic casework services, offering direct assistance with food, clothing, utilities, and housing needs, while making appropriate referrals to social service, education, and housing agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct client interviews to assess individual needs and eligibility for Salvation Army services.
- Provide assistance based on client needs and established service guidelines.
- Refer clients to appropriate agencies for additional support and resources.
- Connect clients with social development opportunities within TSA and the community.
- Maintain accurate case histories and records in accordance with TSA policies and procedures.
- Submit monthly statistical reports documenting all assistance provided through Social Services.
- Collect and prepare monthly/quarterly reports for the NH Food Bank, USDA Commodities, and other program requirements.
- Coordinate and manage volunteers within the Social Services Department.
- Operate within established budgetary guidelines to support departmental functions.
- Oversee weekly pantry supply pickups and drop-offs using a 12-passenger van.
- Assist with seasonal social service activities as needed, including extra hours during the Christmas season.
- Support daily office and clerical tasks as required.
- Serve as a liaison to community organizations as directed by the Corps Officer.
- Communicate program needs, such as supplies and volunteer support, to the Corps Officer.
- Perform additional duties related to Social Services and administration, as assigned by the Corps Officer.
- Stay informed on and comply with all Salvation Army National Social Services standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Computer knowledge; basic accounting/bookkeeping; typing; filing; oral and written communication; planning and organizational skills.
- Complete required KeepSAfe abuse risk management training as defined by the KeepSAfe policy and as assigned by supervisor.
- Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army's insurance requirements.
