COMPENSATION : $26-$30 an hour DOE
STATUS : NON- HOURLY / REGUALR FULL-TIME

JOB OBJECTIVES :
The Social Services Coordinator is the ministry team member responsible for the provision and management of overall case work services offered to individuals and families in the north King County area who are in need of material assistance and apply at the Seattle Temple corps. In addition, the social services director will provide case management for up to 14 clients in our Charis Place Program and our Pathway of Hope Program. Charis Place is a sober living program for men and Pathway of Hope is a case management program for families. This position supports the practical ministries of The Salvation Army in collaboration with holistic objectives that include spiritual and practical responses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Provide direct service, case management, and community resource development to ensure the full implementation of appropriate services for our Charis Place sober living clients, Pathway of Hope families, and financial assistance applicants. As well as providing supervision to the Food Bank Coordinator

DRIVING EXPECTATIONS :
- Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license
- Must pass The Salvation Army‘s in-house driving test and Motor vehicles Records check
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Ability to drive own and / or assigned TSA vehicles. (Based on availability)
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
Bachelors degree in Social Work, Christian Ministry, or relevant fields preferred or 1 year of recent experience in social work or similar roles where interaction with people in need and problem solving were essential job functions.Experience and / or strong interest in community outreach, organization and community capacity development, including working on community coalitions.Must have an interest and ability to work with people and clients of diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.Ability to coordinate volunteers and employees for meaningful work in accomplishing goals.Ability to collaborate on complex social issues with families and communities.Ability to speak and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries and customers. Bilingual competency a plus.Ability to competently handle, prioritize and be self-directed in managing workload and participate as a member of the ministry team.Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in matters relating to client services, maintaining the integrity of information on each client.Familiarity with Salvation Army policies and procedures, or ability to learn sources and guidelines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :
Providing case management for up to 5 clients with school aged children in the Pathway of Hope program which offers families the opportunity to move out of poverty into self-sustainability.Providing regular case management for up to 14 men who are in recovery and living in Charis Place Sober living facility by providing referrals, assisting with job and housing search and any other needs.Assist with oversight of client case records, social services systems (WellSky), HMIS, and ensure that required forms and reports are maintained in the prescribed format.Overseeing financial assistance program for the community by managing all applications, scheduling client appointments and working closely with the finance department to ensure checks are issued.Overseeing and allocating budget of approximately $100,000 while utilizing a finance databaseOversee and supervise Food Bank operations, which includes all food bank communications with our partners, applying for grants, supervising Food Bank Coordinator and performing food bank pickups from local grocery stores. May include driving company vehicles.Meeting with walk-in clients to provide referrals and information on scheduled walk-in appointment daysTracking and entering stats for social services programsPlanning / coordinating community outreach events and collaborating actively with Service Providers in North King County.And any other duty as assigned.DIRECT SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES
Provide case management for up to 4 Pathway of Hope families while also identifying families to participate in the program.Meet with social service clients to determine need and eligibility for services and referrals in relation to shelter, food, clothing, utilities and rental assistance.Provide case management for up to 14 men in the Charis Place sober living programAssist with interacting with food bank clients to provide announcements, outreach and informationDIRECT ENGAGEMENT IN THE COMMUNITY
Developing and maintaining partnerships within the community to assist Pathway of Hope participants with achieving goals as set forth in case managementThe Social Services Director is responsible for oversight of coordinating the intake of Christmas food and toys needed for the Christmas assistance program, in collaboration with the overall goals and plans of the ministry team for Christmas.Coordinate the Rental Assistance program on behalf of the Seattle Temple corps. Work with local Salvation Army Social Services Departments and local agencies to secure rental assistance for clients.Represent The Salvation Army in north King County at appropriate service provider meetings, in collaboration with the goals and plans of King County Social Services.Seek out and secure new funding sources for current and future needs, in collaboration with the plans of King County Social Services and the Divisional Headquarters Development Department.MANAGING RESOURCES
Participate in the budgeting and business planning process related to social services.Executing Ensure internal and external accountability, through accurate records of all special financial assistance funds per contractual obligations and Salvation Army policy.Maintain all social services statistical records, including current case files for individuals and families.Provide services in compliance with The Salvation Army King County Social Services guidelines and within the budgeted business plan.Provide timely communication and updates of trends, anticipating and planning for needs that show variation from the budgeting process and business plan.FACILITATING INTEGRATION OF PRACTICAL AND HOLISTIC RESPONSES :
Identify children eligible for Salvation Army Community Service and Wilderness camps. Refer these individuals to the Youth Pastor for follow up.Coordinate client requests for spiritual assistance and pastoral care with the corps officers.Meet face to face with corps officers and other corps staff weekly to offer support and information regarding community linkages, programmatic requirements and specific needs and trends of those coming for assistance.Assist in recruiting, interviewing and training of new employees or volunteers, including corps members, who will be directly involved in providing client services.Participate in the goals and planning of the multi-disciplinary leadership team, representing the direct social service ministries to individuals and families. This may include involvement in events or activities not specifically addressed.Development of plans to expand and increase Pathway of Hope program.EQUIPMENT USED :
