Position Summary
The Social Services Assistant will facilitate the overall mission of The Salvation Army by providing support to the Director of Social Services in all phases of the delivery of social service aide to the community.
Essential Functions
- Give support to the Social Service Program Manager with preparing food bags and distributing the appropriate food, clothing, or other assistance as is available.
- Maintain cleanliness of food pantry and food pantry storage, maintaining LARFB guidelines.
- Quality assurance of all food and non-food donations.
- Assist with the inventory of food pantry as it relates to the purchasing / ordering of food and other goods.
- Maintain up to date food handlers Certificate.
- Use up-to-date referral system to provide referrals for services not provided by The Salvation Army.
- Assist with pick up, drop off, loading and unloading donations as requested.
- Help facilitate the training of all aides and volunteers.
- Accept donations and provide donation receipts to all donors.
- Maintain a clean, presentable, and professional working environment.
- Assist with all seasonal and special project social service activities, functions, and programs.
- Various other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate a computer and telephone. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
