POSITION TITLE: Associate Director of Gift Planning (ADGP)

REPORTS TO: Director of Development

CLASSIFICATION: Office/Hybrid/ options

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT – Administrative

Annual Salary Range: $70,000 to $80,000

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Gift Planning (ADGP) position is a Territorial recognized Gift Planning position and part of the Gift Planning program along with the Director of Gift Planning (DGP) and Senior Director of Gift Planning/Mentor (SDGP/M) positions.

The Associate Director of Gift Planning (ADGP) supports comprehensive gift planning activities within the Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division, fostering donor relationships and promoting the benefits of gift planning to professional advisors and internal constituencies.

• A bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, finance, or related field. A preference is given for candidates with an advanced degree or certification such as, Certified Financial Planner (“CFP”), MBA, JD, CPA, CSPG or CAP
• Ability to manage projects involving donors, team members, and vendors
• Ability to develop creative options to present to an audience – provide choices.
• Possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Someone that is self-motivated, articulate, people & goal oriented, and can work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining poise under pressure, and work as a team member or independently as needed.
• Comfortable with technical conversations involving financial or legal concepts.
• Presents oneself in a professional manner.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in relation to information and documentation.
• Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and has ability to learn CRM and application software readily.
• Ability to travel for training, conferences, and donor face-to-face visits.
  
  

Associate Director Of Gift Planning Duties & Responsibilities

The ADGP is responsible for supporting the DGP. While the ADGP does not have Gift Production goals, they support the DGPs in identifying, cultivating, finalizing, and stewarding gift plan commitments. This will be achieved through management, marketing, metrics, and training activities.

Management

• An ADGP assists with all gift planning activities within the Division.
• Assist in building relationships with donors, making phone calls and visiting donors as directed by the DGP.
• Connect with Corps Officers and program staff in the Division to educate leadership and constituents on the value of gift planning
• Working with donors to establish gift plans such as Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts, and Bequest commitments.
• Maintain annual stewardship for all living bequest donors within the Division.
• Maintain and build relationships with professionals such as, CPAs, CFPs, and Attorneys.
• Collaborate with Corps Officers, Donor Relations Directors (Major Gifts) and Development staff to provide donors with exceptional service and assist with Development Department projects and events.
• Assist the DGP with guiding donors through the forms and information collection necessary for gift plans.
  
  

Metrics

• Coordinate a minimum of two (2) gift planning proposals per week.
• Make a minimum of ten (10) substantive phone calls per week. These may include following up on gift leads, stewardship calls, or professional advisor connections
• Make a minimum of (20) written communications per week, i.e. thank you cards, birthday cards, etc.
• Maintain accurate donor records for their communications and those of their DGPs as requested.
  
  

Marketing

• The ADGP is responsible for completing and updating an Annual Multi-Channel Forecast and Marketing Plan (FMP) using the Territorial Headquarters template.
• The ADGP is responsible for the implementation of all DGP Forecast and Marketing Plan (FMP) throughout the year at the direction of the DGP.
• The ADGP will project manage marketing activities such as direct mail, e-mail blasts, surveys, etc. with Divisional and Territorial staff and vendors.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of small events such as seminars, program tours, Hope Brigade legacy society gatherings, and other stewardship events.
  
  

Training

Participate In All DGP Trainings As Follows

• Participate in the monthly DGP Training call.
• Participate in the annual twelve (12) week training session.
• Participate in an annual technical training conference and kindred sessions.
• Participate in all Territorial and Mentor scheduled training sessions.
  
  

Other

Work within the established framework, policies and organization of the Division and Territory. To accomplish this, s/he will:

• Conduct activities within the framework of the territorial gift acceptance policies.
• Adhere to all territorial standards and policies regarding the gift planning program.
• Refrain from signing any legal commitments on behalf of The Salvation Army.
• Refrain from any personal gain because of donor contacts. Accept no gratuities or gifts and allow no bequest or remainder interest to be designated to the individual representing The Salvation Army.
