Position Summary: The Ministry Discovery Intern is a leadership position which exists to develop individuals in
preparation for full-time ministry through Salvation Army Officership. This individual will work with the Corps Officer to
learn and experience involvement with and leadership of the daily and weekly responsibilities and programming of the
corps.
The Ministry Discovery Intern Program is to experience the holistic ministry and mission of The Salvation Army. This
requires that duties and responsibilities will be adjusted based on corps programming and seasonal needs. There is a
training emphasis and local service priorities to give a well-rounded experience and exposure to Salvation Army
programming and leadership.

programming and leadership.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Participate in worship and Christian education programs at the corps through planning, leading, preaching, teaching, and supporting others in those roles. That would include activities such as Sunday School, Bible Studies, Corps Cadets, small groups, etc.
- Participate in and coordinate the development of corps programming, worship arts, music programs, and special programming. That would include activities such as VBS, Day Camp, Character Building, leadership training and evangelistic outreaches.
- Represent The Salvation Army at community events such as, service clubs, committee participation, local school functions and ministerial associations.
- Participate in and develop community center, social service, and corps programs.
- Coordination of and participation in seasonal programs such as Bell Ringing campaign, summer camps and other special events, as assigned.
- Participate in pastoral and evangelistic ministries, Pastoral Care Council, Corps Council, and youth/adult planning committees.
- Assist in the upkeep of property and facility preparation for programming.
- Participate in corps financial goals by observing budgets and support of fund-raising efforts.
- Work with and help establish relationships The Salvation Army has such as staff, the public, clients, program participants, parents, community leaders, volunteers, community service workers, outside groups, and community residents.
- Will assist in the supervision of youth and program participants, volunteers, and community service
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- 3 to 4 years of college in a related field
- 3 to 4 years of Full-time non-Salvation Army ministry experience (preferred)
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
- Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
- Willingness to learn new software as needed
- Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
- Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)
