Job Summary Supervises and participates in the day-to-day operations of the Family Store warehouseensuring compliance with established policies and procedures; ensures theaccountability and security of cashier funds; maintains the neatness andattractiveness of store merchandise ensuring that the displays remainwell-stocked; assists customers in locating items and prices and explains storepolicy; assists employees in resolving routine problems and performing specialassignments; assumes the responsibilities of the Family Store Manager asneeded. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of effective and efficient techniques for merchandising retail store items. Knowledge of the principles and practices of basic mathematics. Knowledge of effective customer service techniques. Ability to prepare and maintain attractive merchandise displays. Ability to supervise, lead, and motivate the work of subordinate employees. Ability to assume additional supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the FamilyStore Manager. Mental and Physical AbilitiesAbility to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to operate a cash register. Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved bylesser periods of sitting operating a vehicle. Education and Experience High school diploma or G.E.D. and One year experience working in a retail store, preferably a Salvation ArmyFamily Store with some experience supervising the work of co-workers, Or Any equivalent combination oftraining and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, andabilities. Licenses and Certifications None. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Work is performed in a normal store environment where there are little or nophysical discomforts associated with changes in weather. Work is performed in awarehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated withchanges in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and thelike.
