Location: The Salvation Army Georgia Divisional Headquarters  Preferred Candidate Location is Savannah, Augusta, or Coastal Georgia    About this opportunity:Solicits, secures and documents planned gifts such as wills, trusts, and annuities within an assigned geographic area; travels throughout an assigned region of coverage to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with donors, prospects, advisory board members and their advisors. Provides information, answers questions, and resolves problems regarding planned giving gifts; assists donors in charitable estate planning and in determining the most appropriate planned giving gift; assists in planning and coordinating recognition activities; interprets and ensures compliance with the Territorial Planned Giving Manual; plans and prioritizes work to ensure goals and objectives are met; delivers all gift options to prospects with minimum supervision.  Demonstrates the ability to provide leadership and has a personal commitment to The Salvation Army Mission Statement and builds relationships with senior constituents to assist in charitable estate planning. Must live in or be willing to relocate to the travel area when required for the position. Key responsibilities:•    Contacts suspects, prospects and donors via telephone, email, text, etc. to schedule personal visits; generates communications regarding the same; responds to requests for information about planned giving opportunities received through advertisements, telephone calls, newsletters, and seminars; performs necessary follow-up to cultivate relationships with prospects and donors.•    Visits with prospects and donors to solicit and secure gifts through planned giving for future funding of The Salvation Army; conducts personal interviews to identify prospects; consults with individuals about specific planned giving techniques; remains sensitive and aware of the donors' financial and spiritual needs; assists them in determining the most appropriate planned gift for their personal circumstances; ensures compliance with the Territorial Planned Giving Manual and all other applicable regulations and policies.•    Travels extensively to carry-out responsibilities of the position; drives automobile in an assigned region while visiting suspects, prospects, donors, corps officers, lawyers, trust officers, brokers, advisory boards, etc.; plans trips in an economical manner while keeping the needs of the donors in mind; prepares and maintains accurate mileage reports.•    Assists individuals with charitable estate planning; gathers information from individuals and determines their desires regarding charity; compiles information and formulates a proposed plan for individual's consideration; may review the plans prepared by an Associate Director of Planned Giving prior to their presentation to the potential donor as necessary.•    Provides stewardship  to donors who have made a gift to The Salvation Army whether as a will, revocable living trust, charitable remainder trust, etc.; builds and maintains effective engagement  with donors offering planned gifts to The Salvation Army; maintains open and direct channels of communication; ensures that donors are treated fairly and with sensitivity; resolves problems, interprets the Territorial Planned Giving Manual and responds to questions; assists donors in completing forms; ensures that all prospects and donors are serviced in a timely, efficient, and tactful manner; ensures the accuracy and completeness of all information provided; demonstrates competency to discuss and deliver all planned giving gift types with minimal supervision.•    Prepares and maintains records of all phone calls, correspondence, visitation data sheets and portfolio of all contacts; maintains prospect and donor files and status reports; demonstrates a working knowledge of the InterChange CRM database to track all constituent interactions; receives and responds to donor mail; prepares and/or dictates correspondence; prepares educational illustrations/proposals and other documents to support the gifting process; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.•    Coordinates details involved in securing planned gifts by conferring with attorneys, trust officers and other professionals; provides them with correct wording of gift agreements; assists them in creating trusts or other estate planned gifts; assembles and completes gifts by preparing the correct receipts, gift applications, gift data sheets, and/or request-for-trust forms to be submitted for processing through the Divisional Finance Board and Territorial Headquarters as needed; ensures the accuracy and completeness of all information regarding the same.•    Performs both short and long-term planning to reach objectives and personal goals; attends and prepares for staff meetings; prepares for personal visits to assigned region; prepares reports for the corps and the Divisional Planned Giving Director on a regular basis.•    Prepares and submits for review all reports and documentation required by both the Divisional Planned Giving Director and Territorial Headquarters in a timely, accurate and complete manner.•    Plans and coordinates promotional efforts for their assigned region of coverage; prepares and coordinates special mailings; conducts planned giving seminars and performs public speaking at Senior Citizens Expos, Home League and Rotary, etc.; establishes and maintains professional relationships in the community; represents The Salvation Army in a professional manner at all times.•    Assists local officers, their advisory boards and committees in developing local promotional plans; conducts presentations to the advisory boards and meets with the Planned Giving Committee; cooperates with the divisional leaders, advisory boards, corps officers, other professionals and advisors.•    Reads and maintains a working knowledge of the Territorial Planned Giving Manual, Internal Revenue Service regulations and applicable state laws; ensures continuous compliance to the same.•    Attends and participates in conferences and training sessions; reviews and studies various planned giving periodicals and other related publications; maintains up-to-date knowledge and awareness of planned giving practices and legislation in relation to planned giving and taxation.•    Performs other duties as assigned. What we are looking for in you:•    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study; and•   Three years related work experience performing fund-raising work for a charitable organization or similar work experience causing people to make measurable decisions and supervising projects, or•    Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.•    Valid State Driver’s License•    Satisfactory completion of a confidential psychological assessment Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing amongst a diverse group of people. Ability to perform public speaking and represent The Salvation Army in a professional manner. Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory on a frequent basis in order to perform responsibilities of the position. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there is little or no physical discomforts. Ability to meet with donor prospects in their office or home where there may be physical discomforts and environment may not be handicap accessible. Work also requires extensive travel throughout the assigned region where there may be physical discomforts/dangers associated with driving a vehicle, changes in the weather and on-site visitation with potential donors and overnight hotel stays on a regular basis.
